Evidence before preference
Our Comparison Method
Pandacompassbazar.website is an independent information site about marine propulsion. Our starting point is the work a boat needs to do.
Four checks before a conclusion
Define the duty
Identify operating hours, loaded displacement, useful speed, passage length and the availability of fuel or charging.
A recommendation without an application is incomplete.
Align the measurements
Keep input and output power separate. Compare continuous with continuous, and retain the conditions attached to fuel or range figures.
Equivalent units do not guarantee equivalent tests.
Include the installation
Consider drive arrangement, complete installed mass, service access, controls, cooling, exhaust and structural implications.
An engine does not operate independently of its boat.
State the remaining uncertainty
Distinguish a manufacturer specification, a calculation, a measured trial and a general engineering principle.
A useful comparison makes its limits visible.
We explain suitability. We do not award a universal “best engine”.
What counts as evidence
We favour manufacturer operating manuals, installation drawings and explicit rating definitions for product-specific claims. Standards bodies provide technical context, while documented sea trials can show how a complete vessel performs. A manufacturer’s test is still a manufacturer’s test; a result should retain its boat, load, propeller and environmental conditions.
Our guides link to official sources and identify real engine families or technical references to help readers continue their research. They do not claim that every listed product is currently available in every region. Before purchasing, obtain current documentation for the exact variant, certification and market.
What we have not done
We have not independently bench-tested the engines described here, commissioned a comparative fleet trial or inspected your vessel. Illustrative calculations are labelled and are not product performance claims. Generic machinery photographs provide context; they are not used to establish engine identity or certify an installation.
Independence and funding boundaries
This static edition contains no paid placements, affiliate links, advertising scripts or sponsored rankings. We are not affiliated with the manufacturers, classification organisations or standards bodies mentioned. A source link is a research aid, not an endorsement or evidence of a commercial relationship.
Corrections and responsible use
If a statement appears inaccurate, send the page address, the wording in question and a primary source where possible. Use the contact worksheet to prepare a clear draft. We do not promise a response time or provide emergency assistance.
Marine propulsion involves mechanical, electrical, fire and environmental hazards. Product selection and modification should involve appropriately qualified professionals and the applicable vessel rules. Read our conditions of reading before relying on the material.
